3 Spring Cocktails to Tickle Your Tastebuds

Spring is in the air, and to dodge a bit of the lockdown blues, enjoying your best gin recipes and mixers is an excellent way to stay cheerful and get your mind off things. At Brogans Way Gin, we understand that with a change of season comes more willingness to try new tastes and get creative with your gin, and you can do this from the comfort of your own home while gin distilleries and bars are closed. Whether you prefer craft gin or premium gin, here are three spring cocktails to tickle your tastebuds.

Strawberry Sensation Gin Smash

A refreshing and tantalising mixer to enjoy in the garden after a long day, this strawberry smash recipe combines the traditional mint and fruit combination that so many cocktails draw inspiration from these days. The recipe is interchangeable with other spirits like rum or whiskey, but we reckon paired with a good craft gin that accents a sweet citrus flavour profile is best. What you’ll need:

  • ½ Teaspoon Granulated Sugar
  • 1 Lime Wedge
  • 3 Fresh Strawberries – 2 Hulled & Sliced, 1 for Garnish
  • 90ml Gin
  • Club Soda
  • Fresh Mint Sprig for Garnish

Using a tall glass, combine the sugar and the squeezed juice from the lime. Mix to dissolve the sugar. Add the sliced strawberries and mix again. Add with your gin and ice. Top up with your soda and garnish with the last strawberry and mint.

Fruity Gin Spring Fusion

A delicious twist on the classic G&T. Offering fruity and zesty notes to revitalise your evenings, this spring fusion mix is a must-try. This rich and velvety cocktail is easy to make and easy to drink using the Brogans Way Gin Passionfruit Gin Liqueur. What you’ll need:

  • 60ml Passionfruit Gin Liqueur
  • 30ml Pomegranate Juice
  • 90ml Grapefruit Seltzer
  • 1 Lime Wheel

Fill a 300ml glass with ice. Add the pomegranate juice and grapefruit seltzer, mix gently. Fill a shot glass with the gin liqueur and slowly pour on top of the seltzer mix. Add your lime wheel and enjoy!

Passionfruit & Pineapple Gin and Tonic

A passionate team-up of beautiful summery notes to kick-start the weekend or to enjoy watching the sunset after a long day. This cocktail is vibrant with flavour and offers a tropical and fruity edge. The best gin to use with this drink would be a gin that offers a floral flavour profile. What you’ll need:

  • 1 Passionfruit
  • 1 Slice Fresh Pineapple
  • 1 Wedge Lime
  • 40ml Gin
  • 10ml Elderflower Liqueur
  • 120ml Tonic Water
  • Fresh Pineapple Chunks

Place your freshly cut pineapple chunks into the bottle of a jug. Pour your gin and blitz with a blender until the pineapple has broken down. Strain the mix using a finely meshed sieve and a spoon, then dispose of the pulp once entirely squeezed out. Add the seeds and flesh from your passionfruit to the mix and stir well. Fill a Copa glass with ice and add your elderflower liqueur. Add your fruity gin to the glass as well as the lime wedge juice. Add a few pineapple chunks and the squeezed lime wedge as garnish. Slowly pour the tonic into the glass and serve straight away.

We at Brogans Way Gin can’t wait to have you back at our boutique gin bar and distillery in Richmond. In the meantime, our full craft gin product range is available on our website. We hope you can add one of these spring-inspired cocktails to your best gin recipes to enjoy with family and friends.
